AsiaReviewerManiac’s Embarassingly Lacking Year In Review (2016): Just don’t bother asking again…please

Hi everyone, and welcome back! It is finally time for me to share my own year in review…or at least try to. For 2016, it is most certainly more disappointing than last year’s by far. This year…it just hasn’t been the year for me folks.

In numerous aspects: uni, work and my social life has taken a major toll, and all I needed was some time to myself, to mend myself and make sure that I can stand upright again to face another day, and basically another year. Man, am I glad for 2016 to be finally over.

Sorry to those who have thought this year to have been not bad…this has been by far the worst year I could have possibly imagined it to be…honestly, let’s just get this post started already.

But wait! Before I begin, I want to kinda make a little note here, and stretch out the playing field with this year’s review. This year, in terms of watching dramas, has been both embarrassing and  just bad. However, I have in turn substituted it by watching plenty of movies which have all been fantastic. Seriously, some K-movies this year have just been brilliant, and I kinda wanna give them a heads-up, because it’s too late now to dedicate them a proper review. Perhaps I might consider it next year, but knowing me…I highly doubt it.

Let’s do this. Continue reading

“Sailor Moon Crystal” First Impressions: Ahhh~~ The Memories ^///^

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! I know that this post is quite delayed, but I felt that it should be shared regardless (and, to be quickly fitted in before the end of the month!). As the title has perhaps already hinted on, Sailor Moon is making her comeback (finally!!!) and she is back better than ever! Sailor Moon was my childhood, and it will remain in my memories as one of the most happiest times of my life. Kyaaaaa~~~ Fangirling time!!!

KYAAAAAA~~~~

KYAAAAAA~~~~

Ahem, so today’s first impressions will be on the first two episodes of the series, which were broadcasted on both the 5th and 19th of this month! It is sad that the anime will only release an episode every fortnight (I know, the shock, the horror!) but honestly, hardcore fans (such as myself *cough cough*) probably will wait patiently.

So, let us begin!!

I’M BACK!!! *spirit fingers* With a new start and new perspective for 2014!

keep-calm-because-i-am-back-2

Soooooo I am back from my much needed holiday to the Gold Coast!!! *Crackers and streamers go off* Yes, yes I am well aware that you have all missed me a lot (cough cough) but now I have returned, with a brain full of nothing and a body covered in a slight tan that makes me look more unhealthy then I really was :S

…This is going to be a great start to the new year, huh?

So, what I had wanted to do with this post is introduce to you all some of the new things I intend to do on this site in the coming future cause it’s time to start fresh and new, right?? Also, I want to list down my own personal goals for the new year because it is time to get yourself together Hyunnie!

Alright, so how this will work: two titles – Asia Review Maniac Goals for 2014 and Yami Hyunnie Goals for 2014. Each will list the goals I want to achieve for the year, and hopefully I will return and cross off which ones I have done on this post. If not, then a montage of the goals achieved may be made into some sort of post, and then linked here. Let’s just go with the flow, shall we?

So, let’s start!

The Asia Reviewer Maniac Awards 2013 – Part 1 of 2

Hahaha what a cheesy title huh?I AM BACK FROM THE DEAD!!! Finally! After suffering from days of no blogging, I’m finally able to come back with this; the Asia Reviewer Maniac Awards of 2013! Yes I know, a bit late past Christmas but hey, Christmas is family time peoples; I had to spend it with some of the special people in my life (even though you readers count as a portion of that, sorry!)

2013 has been a huge year for Asian pop culture, whether it is music, dramas or even animes. In particular, Kpop has been huge this year, where the international community has also begun to notice even more about what Korean music has to offer. Nonetheless, other aspects of Asian pop culture such as anime, dramas and other styles of music have also been shone in the spotlight and has been taken notice by other parts of the world as well. God I’m so proud to be Asian :3

Alright so the awards are all based on my own personal opinion, and also what I have been able to see and discover this year. Yes, there will be some categories which will be slightly lacking than others, but please understand that I am but only one person, and it is simply not possible to get around to everyone and everything >< If you aren’t that satisfied with the results I’ve concluded with, then leave a comment below stating what or who you think should have won what category. Also, if you haven’t noticed already from my blog site, it is pretty Kpop biased, so the Kpop section of the awards will take a major portion of the awards lol. Hope you all don’t mind that! And so, here goes!

K-pop

The list below I discovered from Saphirya’s Kpop Award 2013 blog post. She has given a fantastic list, which is what I have based my results from. Go check out her blog site for more Kpop awesomeness! http://saphirya.com/

The remaining half of Psycho-Pass fell short, but is still a series worth checking out…kind of

psycho pass ending title

So, I finally finished up Psycho-Pass once and for all, and ended up getting out of it a lot of questions about our current society, conflicted feelings and another awesomely addictive Jpop song…what more could I ask for, hey?

Oh yes, there is one thing; the next season for this series please.

Why? You’ll eventually find out…but don’t say I didn’t warn you beforehand.

What is it? I haven’t said anything? Well….SPOILERS ALERT!

There, I said it – happy?

…Let’s finish this.

By the way, this is kind-of part two of my review for Psycho-Pass; for part one, click on the link provided:

Psycho-Pass is proving to be something unexpectedly enjoyable, until they literally dropped the plot twist right in my face halfway through

opening

Alright, I’ve been eyeing this series ever since it finished broadcasting back in March this year, but due to uni, work and life in general, I never had the chance to seclude myself from society and actually start to watch it. Now that I have, I can finally give a nice chat about what I’ve thought about it from my initial impressions, what I come to conclude after reaching the halfway point, and what I hope to see in the future with the remaining half to go.

And hopefully, it is to recover from the unsatisfying plot twist that was just thrown in my face about 10 minutes ago.

…Let’s start, shall we?

By the way, it may contain some slight spoilers; just a heads up eh?
