Hello again everyone. Thinking that I can take a breather today, the question for today is again a little heavy *sigh*

Drama scene that broke you

I am practically a baby when it comes to melo/sad dramas, but thinking back to a memorable one where I legit balled my eyes out and was left in a state of despair for days would be…

Scarlet Heart (步步惊心) – Original Chinese drama

*SPOILER ALERT* Please be warned that I will be disclosing about the ending for this drama, so please skip this whole day if you don’t want to be spoiled.

That ending…why oh why must they make this so tragic? The last 10 episodes of the drama really tore me apart, giving me swollen eyes and a blocked nose to last days. The very moment I broke down (before this I was already crying, but not yet broken) was when Zhang Xiao (past Ruo Xi) met our reincarnated 4th Prince at the exhibition, and that very moment when we realised that she recognises him, but he doesn’t. Then, as he is walking away, she stares at his back whilst taking off her glasses, blurring her image of him, I just took out my earphones, walked across the room and sat on the floor sobbing (this was around 2-3 am at night if I remembered correctly).

*points to self* Yup, that's me with that ending.

*points to self* Yup, that’s me with that ending.

So much went through my head as I tried to think over that ending…and it only brought more tears along with a broken heart, mourning over our Ruo Xi and 4th Prince. Everything about this drama, from the acting to the setting, to the costuming and soundtrack; all of it was an amazing experience, as much as that ending tore my heart out, it was indeed the ending that made the most sense, despite it being the most tragic.

Everything that had happened between them led to that very ending. The story was so beautifully written, and by the end of the drama, it made me realise that history is indeed a force that must never be reckoned with. Forever will I remember this masterpiece, and despite many dramas coming so close to breaking me, this still takes the cake.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go lay down and curl up in a ball to cry some more; this post has gotten me slightly teary-eyed.

Here’s the 30 Day Asian Drama Challenge if you are interested in joining!  I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s answers to these questions.
