Today’s episode was what everyone was probably not what everyone hoped for, but it was exactly what was expected of the episode – an episode that just gave-out literally at the last minute.
This episode had its moments, as in it showed what we wanted to see (cute, happy moments between the main leads) but in all honesty, considering this is the penultimate episode already, plot-wise there should have been more.
Let’s do this!
Brief Recap:
Looking back at the last episode, we can see that there is movement, but whether or not the amount of movement has been sufficient for us is another story. Now that we have only one more episode left, wheels are turning at such a rapid pace that I can’t even catch up. See for yourself:
1. Tan and Eun Sang go ahead to gain the approval from both parents
This may seem more impossible on Tan’s side of the family, but who would have thought that Eun Sang’s mother would be quite hard-headed as well?
Well, the two love-birds gain both parent’s blessings (Tan’s father may be a bit ambiguous) but they finally have the approval to date on both sides of the family.
Hooray! That’s a step forward right? Like Tan says, they have finally stepped through one door.
2. Hee Nam and Ki Ae reunite with each other *tear drop*
The two mamas finally see each other again! Haha, tell me it wasn’t just me who missed seeing them together? And, Eun Sang’s mother is finally freely speaking her mind when around Ki Ae? I guess since they’re outside from the big bad house, Hee Nam can finally talk to her comfortably as a friend, rather than an employee.
3. Kim Tan and Young Do reconcile with their past
Or at least that’s what it seems like. Choi Young Do finally lets Kim Tan know how he feels about the issue with his mother, which Kim Tan replies as he always knew. That has got to count as a step forward towards their romance bromance friendship right??
Also, Young Do finally finds a clue about his mother *gasp!* What will happen now??!
4. More lovey-dovey time between the new boyfriend and girlfriend (Eun Sang and Kim Tan), with a special cameo from Won
Yep, more sweet moments between our Romeo and Juliet, including a moment with the older brother around! Oh geez, I’m loving this happy Tan&Won brother relationship too much right now! (Warning, picture heavy~)
Oh and this scene below? Definitely the best out of the lot, since we see the jealousy between Bo Na and Chan Young as well! The whole scene is edited as if it were a ping-pong match, throwing antics back and forth from each other. It was pretty much an unofficial double date LOL ><
5. Evil mother finally shows her true side
So, the evil mother has been planning on evil father’s collapse for quite a long time now, and finally she shows her true nature. This is probably the episode’s main issue, where the security of Won and Tan’s future are in the hands of another who they can’t trust. It seems too much of a sudden rush though to feel that actual threat from her intentions. Up until now, we only felt sudden sparks of angry and frustration from her, but never would we have seen her to be a huge conflict, at least not alone. We probably would have suspected her to work hand-in-hand with evil father above, but to think that she would go against him to take everything away from the boys is…almost unexpected.
6. Both fathers of the story fall, and both sons end up as collateral damage
So, we see the downfall and collapse (literally) of both Kim Tan and Young Do’s fathers, and instantly our hearts go out to them. They have been through enough to understand that their lives suck as it is, but in this episode, they realise that their parents are just as sensitive and fragile as they are. In the end, these are parents who have done everything in their power to build an empire fit for a king, which they expect to be their own children. We see evil tyrant father collapse into a coma (no surprises there) and violent tyrant father is suspected of some sort of criminal activity (probably something to do with taxes), leading to the possibility of him getting arrested, which doesn’t sit well for both sons involved. In the final scene of the episode, we see that both sons share that pain which speaks volumes through that silent no-word scene. They are both far yet close, bringing that unspeakable understanding of emotions onto that rooftop.
Comments:
So, this episode lacked that punch we usually see during the second last episode of any drama. No huge threat is introduced into the episode, and instead we are given hints here and there as to how the grand finale will be. Through the preview, we are given plenty of things to ponder upon. What will happen between Young Do and his mother? What is Hyo Shin honestly hinting on? Is the relationship between Won and Hyun Joo actually going to survive? How is the conflict between evil mother and the Jeguk family/company going to turn out?
Do you see large amounts of questions? I honestly have no idea who this drama is going to end, but I have one last comment to make about it; if it ends up being similar to this episode, as in being something with not much shock and punch-factor, then this will be the most tiring journey I have ever taken. I do hope that everything turn out alright for everyone, especially Young Do. He has been dealing with too much crap recently, and hopefully everything ends up well with the mother. Since we have been left in the dark for so long about his mother, it is about time we seem something conclusive in regards to what happened to her.
Young Do, my heart will always be with you.
Final episode, here we come! Thanks for sticking around guys, I really appreciate it ❤
❤ Yami Hyunnie ^^~
